Paramaribo Perpectives
photo © Job Janssen Jan Adriaans Contribution Someni tongo to a large group exhibition with installations, paintings, photography, sculpture and videos by a self-confident generation of Surinamese and Dutch artists. The exhibition is the conclusion to an intensive artistic exchange between artists from Rotterdam and Paramaribo. How do cultural background and historical baggage influence our perspective on current social issues? Themes such as ancestry and future, history and politics, cultural identity and social topicality are examined and discussed in the context of art. TENT. An exhibition of contemporary art in the former director's villa and the extensive grounds behind De Surinaamsche Bank's headquarters in Paramaribo, curated by Thomas Meijer zu Schochtern (NL) and Christopher Cozier (TT), as well as a publication and a weblog. Paramaribo SPAN marked the 145th anniversary of the Surinaamsche Bank and the completion of ArtRoPa, a four-year exchange project between Rotterdam and Paramaribo artists initiated by the Rotterdam CBK. From Wednesday February 13, 2008 on, the Surinoemer-website is operational. The website serves as an online kiosk and a digital newspaper archive. The website was recently extended with a database of Surinamese poetry: de prakseri bangi / ideas bank. The database features s a selection of the work of 50 Surinamese poets. February 13, 2008.

Representation of and lecture about the Communicating Vessels project by Alan Moore, Director of WMF video in the 'Media Pavilion'. Auditorium of the New York Public Library, Staten Island (US). June 22 and July 13, 2002.
Contribution to the exhibition series 'Lichthaus Plus Neue Kunst' around the Lichthaus in Bremen. The obstacle course was opened on Sunday, May 5, 2002 at 3 PM with a demonstration by the dog training school 'Jolly Jumpers' from Ganderkesee. In connection with that, dogs were invited to explore the course with their owners under the supervision of expert trainers. The sideprogram offered a KynoKino (cinema for dog and man) and hotdogs as long as stocks lasted. Location: The green strip along the Dockstraße between Hermann-Ehlersplatz and Werftstraße. May 5 - June 2, 2002.
